Business Assistance

The Council recognizes this has been an excruciatingly difficult time for our small business here in Montgomery County. We are so proud of the fact that 90 percent of the business community here is comprised of small businesses, and we feel an enormous sense of responsibility to do all we can to help them keep the lights on.  Small business is truly the lifeblood of our local economy.

Since the onset of the pandemic, we have allocated more than $48 million for direct business relief programs, and so far almost $36 million of that money has been distributed. We expect to disburse most of that money by Dec. 30. We know this is a challenging time, but rest assured we are going to do everything we can to provide our local businesses with assistance. For information on programs and grants available, visit the Montgomery County Business Portal page or the Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation.

testing

Testing

If you traveled for the Thanksgiving holiday, we are strongly encouraging you to get tested. County Health Officer Dr. Travis Gayles says getting tested after travel is an important measure to help stop the spread of the virus.

Across our community, you can get tested for free - that’s right - free. If you have insurance we will ask for your information, but there are no co-pays or deductibles. We do not require a government ID or a doctor’s order.

Right now, we are in the midst of a surge that is only going to worsen as we approach the winter holiday season. Please be proactive and get tested even if you feel healthy. This helps us monitor and respond to COVID-19 in our community, and it also contributes significantly to slowing the spread.
