Montgomery College Germantown Campus will Host State Vaccination Site Beginning Next Week; County Will Operate Site March 31 – April 7

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan announced last week that a State mass vaccination site will open at the Germantown campus of Montgomery College during the week of April 4. The site will be managed by the State and vaccinations will be available to all Marylanders.

Free Ride-On shuttle service will run from the Shady Grove Metro station to the vaccination site at Montgomery College-Germantown. Buses will run every 15 minutes from 8:30 a.m. until 30 minutes after the last vaccination (approximately 5 p.m.). Pick up the shuttle on the east side of the Shady Grove Metro. Buses will be marked “Vaccination Shuttle.”

Quince Orchard High School Clinic Moves to Germantown Location

Beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, March 31, the vaccine clinic that was located at Quince Orchard High School (QOHS) will move to the Montgomery College - Germantown location. The site will be operated by the County until the mass vaccination site opens next week. Residents who received their first dose at QOHS will receive their second dose at Montgomery College-Germantown.

County clinics continue to vaccinate residents who have preregistered through the County’s vaccine website. Once the site transitions to a State site, residents who are preregistered for County-operated clinics will not need to register separately for the State mass vaccination clinics unless they are interested in a vaccination at a mass vaccination clinic outside Montgomery County.

In order to allow Montgomery County Public Schools to return to full operation, beginning this week the Richard Montgomery High School vaccination clinic has moved to the Wheaton Library and Community Recreation Center.

Updates about Eligibility to Preregister

As of Tuesday, March 30, residents age 16 years and older with underlying medical conditions are eligible to preregister for State vaccination sites. Eligibility does not confirm an immediate appointment. Appointments are made based on available vaccine supply.

You may preregister for State mass vaccination clinics online or call 1-855-MDGOVAX (1-855-634-6829).

The Montgomery County health department is continuing to vaccinate all essential employees and residents age 65 and older. These efforts continue to target getting doses to residents in zip codes that have been heavily impacted by COVID-19 deaths (and cases) and to those who have difficulty accessing vaccinations.

We encourage residents to preregister with the State and with the County, and to take the first vaccination appointment you are offered at any clinic.

If you’re already been vaccinated, you can now cancel your preregistration for a County-run clinic.
