Healthcare professionals involved in care for patients at the end of life may experience numerous patient losses. If left unaddressed, the losses they experience can leave them feeling overwhelmed, stressed and burnt out. This training will help professionals better understand the nature of compassion fatigue and the grief process (from a professional standpoint) and learn strategies to cope as they care for patients at the end of life. 

 

Objectives

·         Describe the challenging effects arising from end-of-life caregiving

·         Appraise the grief reactions which can arise in end-of-life caregiving

·         Evaluate strategies for self-care during end-of-life caregiving

 

 

Continuing Education: 

·         1 contact hours for nurses, social workers, assisted living managers and and nursing home administrators (through NAB)

·         This program count toward The Center for Learning's Certificate in End-of-Life Care (1 mandatory courses)
