Senior Call Check is excited to announce two new enhancements to the program.

Online Forms:

We have added online forms to contact us. All forms are available on our website. You can submit an online form to:

New Time Frames:

We have added two new time frame windows to receive your call. These are in addition to the current four time frame windows we offer. You can now opt in to receive your call from 11 am - 12 pm or 12 pm - 1 pm. To make this change, please call 1-866-50-CHECK (1-866-502-0560) or submit your request by clicking here.

Just Us at the National Gallery of Art (for people with memory loss)


Just Us at the National Gallery of Art provides interactive, discussion-based experiences for people with memory loss and their care partners.

Participants explore two works of art during virtual sessions on Zoom, meeting weekly on Mondays from 2:00 to 3:15 p.m. (EST).

We’ve moved our Just Us at the National Gallery of Art program online and it now meets once a week, on Mondays from 2:00-3:15 Eastern. Now that we’re not constrained by physical proximity or travel to the Gallery, we can welcome pretty much anyone who might like to join us for a conversation about works of art using Zoom.

Well Connected - Telephone and Online LifeLong Learning (and Supports)

This is the perfect time to try out Covia Well Connected Community. They are a non-profit resource that coordinates enjoyable small group classes via the telephone and a few online. Classes are at no cost too.

MORE DETAILSWell Connected is a phone and online program offering activities, education, friendly conversation, and an assortment of classes and support groups to older adults accessible from the comfort of home. Our community consists of participants, staff, facilitators, presenters, and other volunteers who care about each other, and who value being connected to engaging content, and to each other. Well Connected members can play a game, learn a language, write a poem, go on a virtual tour, meditate, share gratitude, get support, and most importantly, connect and engage with others every day across the country. All groups are accessible by phone or online. Well Connected is a Community Service of Covia and is free of charge to all participants and available to adults over the age of 60.

CaregiverTeleconnection - Online and at no cost

 


The Caregiver Teleconnection is a free, bilingual, and confidential program that connects caregivers and family members to information and support through the telephone or “tele-learning”. Sessions are one hour in length. This non profit has extensive experience offering virtual caregiver support.

Live and Learn Bethesda - Fall Exercise Classes

Welcome to Live & Learn Bethesda. As we continue to observe the Covid-19 restrictions, all of our classes will be presented online using the Zoom video conferencing platform.

 

We are still preparing our Fall catalog and we will notify you when the catalog is available to be viewed and downloaded later this month. We will not be mailing a Fall catalog. Our exercise classes start on September 7th and you can register for these classes now by clicking the class number below.

 

Class Registration

 

The first step is to click the Class link below for each of the classes that you want to attend or click Register to go the RezClick registration page and sign up for classes. Once you have registered for classes you will receive an acknowledgment email from RezClick.

 

One day prior to each class that you have signed up for you will receive an email with the link to join the Zoom webinar. You can join the webinar with your PC/Mac/Tablet/Smartphone.

Seniors - Get Fit and Have Fun Too!

Get fit, have fun, all while moving to the music! The workout combines aerobic movement, strength training, flexibility and balance work all in 1 great class. We will use hand weights, cans or water bottles for resistance training. Please have a chair nearly for seated or standing support.   Each class begins with aerobic movement and strength training intervals . We will end with a cool down stretch, balance and relaxation. Become your own “best motivator “- this is an exercise class that you will enjoy and make you fit and fabulous!   Please have a chair, towel and water bottle.

At any age you can learn and become proficient in Tai-Chi, an ancient form of meditative exercise originated in China.  Tai-Chi is recognized by slow and energizing movements practiced by millions of people around the world to improve and maintain good health. This class is designed to improve the skills and knowledge learned in the Beginners Class for continued health and quality of life.  The 24 Forms in Tai-Chi provide an effective exercise boosting the body’s energy while enhancing the mind and inner spirit. It has been proven that Tai-Chi can energize and heal body, mind and spirit.

Total Body Strength Workout for Seniors

Strength training has incredible benefits for everyone and especially for seniors. This total body workout is a great way for older adults to get started with strength training. Having a strong body helps you avoid injuries, falls, pain and other issues associated with getting older. The exercises taught in this class will focus on building total body strength with an emphasis on improving balance stability, and flexibility. We will use weights and a chair. If you don't own weights you can use a water bottle, a can or anything else you have at home. All exercises can be done standing or sitting. Each class consists of an aerobic warm up, strength work, balance and flexibility. We will end with a relaxing stretch and cool down. No matter how old you are, exercise can improve the quality of your life.
