As a
resource-rich region, Montgomery County has achieved outstanding
results in COVID vaccination with the active cooperation of
community organizations like CCACC. As of June 13, 2021, 64.7% of
residents of Montgomery County have received the first shot of the
COVID vaccine, and 56.4% of residents have completed 2 shots, or 1
shot of the Johnson & Johnson's COVID vaccine. Excluding
residents under the age of 12, about 70% of eligible residents have
received the COVID Vaccine. Two weeks after after Montgomery County's
second vaccination rate reached 50% (happened to be at the Memorial
Weekend), the county enters the final stage of re-opening, lifting
up masks and social distancing requirements.
Because of the amount of recent vaccinations, the number of
COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County have plummeted. Although the
county was opened during the Memorial weekend, the daily infection
cases still continued to drop to 1 case per 100,000 residents,
comparing to 4-5 cases per 100,000 residents in mid-May.
Although the news about vaccination rate and infection data are
exciting, we are far from immunity. Information about virus
variants around the world has made everything uncertain. Although
the current vaccination data of Montgomery County is satisfactory,
the vaccinations being given out is slowly declining. In recent two
weeks, the number of vaccinations for the first dose has only
increased by 1-2%.
Since the beginning of the Pandemic, CCACC has been committed to
providing COVID-19-related medical services to residents in the
community. We have also held regular vaccination distributions for
community residents from February 27th. So far, our volunteer
medical team has successfully vaccinated 2,769 doses of COVID-19
vaccine, and 1499 community members completed vaccination through
CCACC. We plan to continue to hold a few more vaccination clinics
during the Summer.
About 30% of eligible residents in Montgomery County have still not
yet received the COVID-19 vaccine. The first shot vaccination
rate has slowed down significantly. Although the current rate of
COVID-19 infection is decreasing, the virus is still among us.
Residents who have not been vaccinated still face a huge risk of
infection. We want to understand the concerns about COVID vaccine,
the reason why some community members have not yet been vaccinated.
We launched an online survey on "Why I have not yet been
vaccinated”, and will continue to solicit opinions from the
community from June to early August. Those who fill out the
questionnaire can participate in a luck draw. We are scheduled to
hold a special lecture on July 9th. After the lecture, 4 lucky
winners will be selected to receive a $25 Amazon gift card.
Additionally, we will invite medical experts in the community to
answer your questions about COVID vaccine. We want to make sure
those who have not get the vaccine has enough scientific knowledge
and information to make an informed decision. |
