JCA's Today Newsletter

Happy lady thank you for caring

Please Save Our Seniors

and Bring Them Joy

The ageism in our community breaks my heart. But you can help the Jewish Council for the Aging bring justice and hope to local elders during the pandemic.

We have done so much! Yet, there are always more good deeds that need doing.

Since March, we have been delivering meals to seniors who cannot leave their homes or are at risk if they do.

We have been creating daily videos and Zoom meetings with members of our social day program for early-stage memory loss. We also have been making personal phone calls to keep those Kensington Club members connected and aware that they are missed.

We continued our employment workshops and expos, holding them virtually.

And young people have sent hundreds of greeting cards to isolated elders, one of which is featured above.

All these things -- and so many more -- that we do for our seniors and their families require time, dedication and funding. Our staff members excel in their work, but we depend on you, our heroes, to help fund our programs.

It is vital that "members of the JCA family," including Frank (shown below) and his fellow Kensington Club members know they are not forgotten. It is vital that ALL seniors thrive!

Thank you!

DID YOU KNOW?

Since April, JCA has delivered 26,256 nutritious meals to hungry seniors. We also provided free kosher meals to more than 300 older adults.

Last year, our State Health Insurance Assistance Program helped local seniors save $452,035 on prescription drugs. We might exceed that number this year!

Despite COVID-19, many JCA programs didn't skip a beat. Career Gateway classes are filling up fast and our Kensington Club@Home provides wonderful support for older adults with early-stage memory loss...and their family caregivers, too!

JCA is full of good surprises and enduring love for our community.

"Thinking of You" is the name of our 47th Annual Report. It features stories about how JCA Interages connects young and old to support one another and combat loneliness and so much more. Did you receive a copy in the mail? If not, download it from our website or call us at 301.255.4200 or 703.425.0999 to ask for a printed copy.
