The Commission on Aging (COA) draws on the deep and broad expertise of its membership to advocate on behalf of older adults and make Montgomery County, Maryland a Community for a Lifetime. Recognizing that Montgomery County is one of the most diverse communities in the country, and that older adults are the fastest growing demographic in the county, the COA:
- Advises the local government on the needs and interests of older adults, their families, and their caregivers.
- Interacts with residents, nonprofit partners, and the private sector on issues affecting older adults.
- Supports policies that address the growing need for programs and services for older adults of all ages, backgrounds, and ability levels.
- Identifies challenges and gaps in services and advocates for public policies to address them.
