Dear Lylie,

The COVID-19 pandemic is a once-in-a-generation event. The pandemic has affected all aspects of our lives, upending our usual patterns of work and home and bringing suffering and death to thousands.

Across Maryland, those who have personal experience with COVID-19 have important experiences to share with us. You are invited to join us for a special, free program on Thursday, August 5th, 2021 at 5:00 pm where COVID survivors who participate in the CovidCONNECT Peer Support Group will share their personal journeys with the COVID-19 virus and their stories of hope and recovery.

Visit the CovidCONNECT website at covidconnect.health.maryland.gov to learn more and to register.

CovidCONNECT is developed by the Maryland Department of Health's Behavioral Health Administration in partnership with NAMI Maryland, 211 Maryland, and other stakeholders. NAMI Maryland assists in resourcing the platform and is responsible for the CovidCONNECT Webinar Series and the free, peer-led support group for COVID-19 survivors.

What's Ours is Yours: Free Whole Heath Resources for Everyone from the Department of Veterans Affairs

Our next free webinar in the CovidCONNECT Webinar Series will be Thursday, August 19th, 2021: What's Ours is Yours: Free Whole Health Resources for Everyone from the Department of Veterans Affairs.

When the Department of Veterans affairs creates health products they are frequently provided to the public for free, yet few people are aware of this array of resources. This live, virtual webinar will provide information about free, publicly available health resources created by the Department of Veteran Affairs. Attendees will be introduced to resources such as the VA App Store, the VA’s collection of apps for individuals, families, and couples focused on a variety of topics including mental, physical, and behavioral health, and VA Whole Health resources, which support integrated physical, mental, and social well-being.

Visit the CovidCONNECT website at covidconnect.health.maryland.gov to learn more and to register.

How much do you know about Tardive Dyskinesia? Tardive dyskinesia (TD) is a neurologic condition that can develop as a result of the long-term use of antipsychotic medications, which are used to treat bipolar disorder, depression, and schizophrenia. In the United States, as many as 500,000 individuals have TD.

TD causes involuntary movements of the body such as facial tic-like movements, rapid eye blinking, sticking out of the tongue, lip pursing, and jaw clenching. Some people experience twitching and jerking of their arms, legs, or torso. In severe cases, the muscles associated with breathing can even be affected.

How much do YOU know about TD? Answer this short survey and you will still be entered in a raffle to win a $100 Visa gift card!
