National Public Health Week (April 1-7)

The County’s observance of National Public Health Week (April 1-7) kicks off with an inaugural lecture to honor the legacy of the late Dr. Ulder J. Tillman, the County’s health officer for 13 years. The Ulder J. Tillman Lecture in Public Health will be held on Monday, April 1 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Silver Spring Civic Building. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Janine Austin Clayton, director of the National Institute of Health’s Office of Research on Women’s Health. The event is open to the public.

The Department of Health and Human Services, in partnership with Healthy Montgomery, is planning a county-wide health fair to recognize National Public Health Week (April 1 -7). Rather than a traditional health fair in one location, organizers have asked neighborhood associations, health organizations, schools, businesses and other government agencies to host health-related events throughout the county. More than 50 events are planned throughout the week.
