In-Person
Wheaton Arts Parade: Plein Air Demonstration
Saturday, May 1

Drop by to observe artists as they paint en plein air, French for “in the open air.”   Painting and drawing outdoors enables artists to capture changing details of weather and light as they occur.  The plein air artists are all either current or former artists with the Wheaton Arts Parade, whose exhibit, Path of Pyramids, is on the Museum grounds until May 23.

Virtual
Documentary Screening and Artist Talk
Sunday, May 2

A screening of artist Alyscia Cunningham’s 30-minute film I Am More Than My Hair, telling the stories of women who have lost their hair and exploring the meaning of beauty.

Ms. Cunningham seeks to educate the viewer and bring awareness to alopecia (the partial or complete absence of hair from areas of the body where it normally grows). The screening will be followed by a talk by Cunningham and Q&A.

Current Exhibits

I Am More Than My Hair

Open Mondays and Wednesdays 10:00 am – 4:00 pm, and Fridays 10:00 am – 8:00 pm.

An exhibition aimed at changing the perception of hair loss and industry-standard beauty while creating inclusion and accessibility for those who are experiencing loss of hearing and sight.

Anthony Gaskins, The Hat Man

Open Mondays and Wednesdays 10:00 am – 4:00 pm, and Fridays 10:00 am – 8:00 pm.

A collection of handcrafted hats by artist and milliner Anthony Gaskins.  Mr. Gaskins is the creator of “Caps for Chemo,” an idea he developed after losing his parents, sister, and mentor to cancer.  His hats showcase one way cancer patients can recapture confidence after experiencing the hair loss that often accompanies chemotherapy.

Path Of Pyramids
Outdoor Sculpture Walk

Open daily. On-site parking is available.

An outdoor exhibit of 13 human-sized pyramids designed by Montgomery County Artists. Come take a walk along the “Path of Pyramids.” Each of these large pyramid sculptures was created by a local artist and they all speak to Wheaton’s diverse cultures.
